AI’s next bottleneck may not be chips, but electricity. In its newly released Electricity Mid-Year Update 2026, the International Energy Agency (IEA) forecasts global electricity demand growth of 3.6% in 2026 and a further 3.8% in 2027. Industry, electrification, air conditioning and data centers are all pushing the world into a new era of high electricity consumption. These figures do not surprise me. Because this is exactly the reality we face every day at KiWi: Enterprises need more electricity, but green power is not necessarily generated when they need it; data centers require uninterrupted operation throughout the year, while grid capacity and energy costs face greater pressure; many enterprises have bought green power and installed storage, but still lack a system that allows these energy resources to truly work together. So the real question is no longer just “Do we have enough electricity?” It is: Can every kWh be forecast, matched, stored, dispatched and verified at the right time? This is why we are building KiWi. We do not want to build just another beautiful energy dashboard, nor simply sell more green power or install a few more storage systems. What we want to build is an AI Energy Operating System that can truly operate enterprise energy resources. From 15-minute green power matching, AI electricity-demand forecasting and storage charging/discharging schedules to VPP, demand response and 24/7 carbon-free energy verification, we hope to integrate previously fragmented equipment, data and transaction processes into an energy operating system that keeps learning, dispatching and creating value. Entrepreneurship has taught me one thing: A vision is easy to talk about; the real difficulty is making every detail work. Every electricity account, every storage unit, every 15-minute data record, every contract and every customer validation must truly work. These tasks may not appear on stage, but they determine whether the vision can ultimately become reality. I often tell the team: Edison made electricity accessible. KiWi will make energy intelligent. Thank you to the KiWi team, and to every customer and partner willing to test, refine and move forward with us. We still have a long way to go, but the direction is very clear. The most valuable energy companies of the future will not simply have the most electricity. They will be the ones that best understand how to make every kWh create the greatest value at the right time. This is not a distant concept. It is what we are working on today.
